Did the vet even do a fecal sample to test for parasites? Stress can easily trigger dormant giardia and if this is the case, the prescribed meds will not clear it up. Mucous in the feces can be the first sign of giardia.
Pumpkin is used for both diarrhea and constipation. Based on posts about it, I would think more use it for diarrhea with good success.
Tylan is generally used for gastric upset and is a regular staple for many of those who have IBD issues.
With many diagnoses, you will see dramatic improvement within 24 hours. However, with severe gastric issues such as IBD or pancreatitis, it can take a long time with reocurring bouts inbetween. And with something like Giardia, you can see improvement, but they can relapse quickly and need several rounds of treatment.
