The bay leaves do work, either fresh ones in the produce section or the dried ones in the spice section at the grocery store. what's nice is that they're nice and flat so they can be slipped into little cracks and crannies that cockroaches like to hide in. And I would definitely slip the flour especially into the freezer. If you've noticed, whenever you open a bag of flour, there's flour outside the bag. the bags are made of layers of paper and ARE sealed, but it's not always an airtight seal so it is possible that the roaches could get into the bag or at least between one of the layers of the bag.
