Default DISGUSTING TOPIC WARNING... need to know if this remedy is toxic or safe

Hello All,

I'm sure some of you recall my earlier posts asking for help for bugs in my freaking apartment. If you're squeamish stop reading now...

Well it's official the little buggers are indeed cockroaches, and I've not been able to keep Harley out long enough to have this place exterminated. So I have less than 10 days left in this place and I want to run a few natural remedies by ya'll... By the way I'm not the source, my apartment is fairly clean for a university student I've been cleaning like crazy since this happened, stupid neighbors, stupid building managers who don't care.

So the first thing is, I've decided absolutely nothing will be packed in anything other than a sealed rubbermaid. I'm not bringing the buggers with me... any tips to assure they don't come with is greatly appreciated. Once I seal the rubbermaid they can't get in right?

Where do these buggers like to lay eggs, I'm going to wash most of my stuff, but I haven't seen any in our two clothing closets, am I safe to pack that stuff, or should that be all washed too.

Ok remedies:
I've heard that fresh bay leaves deter the buggers, seeing my place clearly isn't the source I'm thinking this may keep them out of my kitchen long enough to move. I've heard people online have had success with making bay leave tea and spraying it along walls and stuff too. I'm also thinking of making mesh bay leave baggies to put in each box... Will bay leaves hurt Harley if ingested.

I've also heard that pepper is a deterrent, and dish soap will kill them. making a mixture of these things apparently works. Neither of those will hurt Harley right? of course I'm not going to let him drink the dish soap or anything. Garlic, cyanpepper, and onion was also suggested, and boric acid but that sounds like it might hurt Harley.

I've heard that dryer sheets eliminate bugs, does this work for cockroaches?

Also some of you mentioned putting things in the freezer to make sure eggs don't come with. I have some pasta boxes that weren't transferred into rubber containers, and a few bags of flour that were stored in a big rubbermaid container, and I'd like to just take the extra precaution. They wouldn't have been able to get in my flour if it was sealed would they...

I'm trying to combat these buggers the best I can, with Harley present. I've also heard that bug bombing the moving truck is a good idea, however I'm only moving 2 blocks away so I don't think it'll be safe to enter the truck that soon if we bomb...

Sorry for the disgusting topic, I'm just really in a panic about this and know no one else to ask... Needless to say I AM VERY EXCITED TO MOVE I hate my apartment building, they never clean the garbage chute, people are slobs, and I'm sick of it. Thank God they are not in Harley's room much any more... poor Harley.
