I noticed a few days ago that Ella had itchy ears that were a bit red. This is not unusual for her, since she seems to be very prone to ear infections. I started using zymox enzymatic solution that my vet had given me last time she had an ear infection. On closer observation, however, I noticed that where the hair starts on the upper part of the ear (on the front of the ears, not the back) her skin looks sort of brownish-dirty and flaky. If I mess with it it sort of makes her skin flake, but it doesn't seem to rub off. Could this be mites? Something else? I've never seen anything like this before.
