In order to have a door opening for the gates that are held in place by pressure, there MUST be a bar across the bottom, and that means there will be a tripping hazard. That is the kind we have, but you need to think about whether that would be the right type for you. We had an older visitor (~70 yrs old), and even though we pointed it out to him when he crossed over it, when he came back over, he still tripped. He could have hurt himself but didn't, we were all lucky. If you are going to have someone older or clumsy passing through it on a regular basis, get one that is attached to the wall on either side so that when they open the door there is no bar across the floor that that might cause them to trip.
