This means that you can be quite sure she hasn't studied any of the health problems that afflict this breed, and that she probably doesn't do any health testing. A semi- knowledgeable breeder would have said there is no such thing as teacups, and yorkies are in the toy breed, but she said there is no such thing as toys or teacups. You may think it's just a little error, but as you study the breed, you will realize, it's a dead giveaway that the breeder is NOT knowledgeable, and therefore is breeding for the wrong reasons. |
I will agree to disagree on the topic of this breeder. Kim Balas is involved in showing yorkies so I am sure she knows that the Yorkie is in the toy breed category. What she is trying to caution people on that are new to the breed is watch out for people who want to sell their dogs at large prices by putting the name "teacup" on them or any other tag. The dogs that she sells to pet homes are always spayed/neutered before going to their new homes. I don't think someone breeding for $$$$ or for the wrong reasons would go this extra mile.
I had a positive experience with this breeder and actually dealt face to face with Kim's husband, Bob. I went to their home and saw where the puppies were raised and how happy they were. Lulu is a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl. That is all that matters in my mind.
For those of you that looked at the website and saw something and didn't like it, go ahead and continue to be judgmental. That is your right. Don't buy a puppy there. Caution people to be wary of the words on the site and ask the breeder about it. But to stretch that into saying a breeder is cruel to her animals without knowing that firsthand, is in my opinion, plain wrong. I stand by my statement on that.
