That is great! I'm trying to bell train Lulu as well. So far, she won't ring it on her own & she only goes to the door about 25% of the time when she needs to go. I honestly don't give her much opportunity to go to the door or ring the bell though, if I really think about it. I always watch her closely...wait for the signs she needs to go then I take her to the door, help her ring the bell, & then take her out. I'm hoping she catches on soon.
Lulu will go to the door mostly when she has to poo. So, I guess it's similar to what you are talking about with your puppy. Potty training is hard & very time consuming but I know it will be worth it in the long run.
