I agree with everything CaptNoonie said, but I wanted to expand on this. I had Kaji shipped at a year old. SO he's older, means he can handle it perfectly right? WRONG! He arrived smelling like pee, which I don't think was his own, and covered in fleas that I think he got from an un-kept dog that was in the same flight as him. He is shy by nature, so a frightening flight just made him more high strung and nervous. It's been a year, he's now 2, and I'm still working with him. He's a completely awesome dog who has opened up VERY SLOWLY, and now plays with his toys and does tricks in our home. (which he never did before) BUT, I still can't take him places without him completely freaking out. There are a total of 3 places he likes and will gladly go to. I take him everywhere, expose him to everything, and out of over 100 places he's been in the last year, only 3 won't make him jump out of his skin.
That's just something for you to think about.
