Everyone is mentioning that 8 weeks is too young, but I'm wondering why that is. My previous dogs have been large breed pups that I brought home at 8 weeks, and my current yorkie girl was purchased at 13 wks because she happened to be the last one left (guess I got lucky). Why is 8 weeks too young? |
You have already received a lot of good information, but it's important to recognize that if one is going to breed, they are doing it to improve the breed after a lot of research, education & mentoring.
I'm not a breeder, but you need to start with the best representation and if you are purchasing a puppy from a breeder who not only is willing to sell him at 8 weeks, but isn't willing to even keep him longer. There is a pretty good chance that he may not be the best representation!
What kind of testing does the breeder do?
This may all be a non-issue since you are not even sure he's being sold with open registration anyway!
Again there is a lot to learn as posters have pointed out!
