It is not advisable to give a female extra calcium during pregnancy. Once the pups are born a calcium supplement is advisable but their are a few exceptions to the rule. A small number of females can get pre-eclampsia so in those cases the female would require calcium during pregnancy. Females with larger litters definitely should be given a calcium supplement after the pups are born.
