You will be ver lucky if you can find a good healthy puppy under 1000.00. When you think that yorkies usually only have 2 to 4 or 5 if you are very lucky puppies, and the cost of testing the male and female before breeding, and then the checkups for the puppies, and the shots, and most breeders of toy dogs do not let them go until they are at least 12 weeks, and if they happen to be very tiny puppies they will be kept longer than that. I also have my puppies checked for livershunt before they can leave, and micro chipped. By the time mine leave they have had at least 2 sets of puppy shots, and sometimes even all of them. That all costs, along with the special puppy food, and if the bitch does not have enough milk, you need the puppy formula to supplement them, and with toy puppies that are only 2 or 3 ounces when born it is very important theat they be kept warm and not allowed to get chilled or they die. Toy puppies are far more fragile than the larger breed dogs, and you must, and I mean must, keep a close watch on them for the first several weeks. I work, and when I have a litter of pups coming I have arrainged with my place of work to do most of my work at home, and go into my office in the evening when my husband is home to watch the pups. They are not left alone at all for the first couple of weeks. Someone is with them 24 hours, and even then we can lose one for one reason or another. |
