I agree with Midge5353 that you can not find a small breed dog in the pound. After my maltese died 3 years ago, I couldn't afford to buy another dog and I also felt that somewhere there might be a little dog needing a new home. So I checked the pounds for many weeks. Any small dog there had a waiting list a mile long then they draw names to see who actually gets him/her. Also you have to be very careful when choosing a dog at the pound especially when you have children in your home. Mixed breed dogs can also be appealling because they have some attributes of the breed you want and not usually the high cost. I don't personally feel $400-600 is all that bad when most maltese or yorkies in my area can be $1500-3000. I'm not a fan of breeding them together because I have so much love for the individual characteristics of each of these breeds. But each to their own. Cute is cute no matter what! |
