I saw the same kind of hawk sitting on my van one day. What a surprise! He took off at nearly the same time I saw him. Needless to say, Lizzy hasn't been going out alone, but I only saw the hawk the one time. I'm in the south, but don't have a clue as to what you can do to deter them.
