Default Yorkie Tails...

I am probably opening a huge can of worms by what I'm about to ask. So let's all remember that this is a sensitive issue, and lets not be rude in responding... After reading the post on Yorkie tails, I thought this may be a good time to ask.

Recently Nova Scotia banned the docking of tails in veterinary practices, at current time I know New Brunswick has had this type of legislation for a while, not sure about other provinces. Seeing Yorkies are required to have a docked tail by breed standard, I wanted to see what people think of this.

A friend of mine who shows in confirmation called CKC to see what thier thoughts were on this. Seeing a vet can no longer do this procedure, the only way a tail can be docked is if the breeder does it themselves, or if you take them out of province (which doesn't make much sense for a few day old puppy). my friend was told by the person she spoke with, "It's your responsibility to follow standard, if a vet wont do it, then do it yourself" Not thier exact words, but pretty close.

I'd love to hear from you what you think of this. I don't show, but it seems to me that if docking is becoming banned slowly province by province that it might be worthwhile adjusting the standard?

Anyone from a country that has banned docking... what do you do if you show?
