This has to be one of the most succinct descriptions I've ever heard. Head on the nail, so to speak. I have two female yorkies. Baby especially, by observing you would think is nuts about me. Truth is, she is territorial and thinks she owns me. Doesn't like anyone or anything to get between her and me, she loves me. My boy, Baxter the maltipoo, is absolutely in love with me. When he looks in my eyes there is no expectation or ownership, just pure unadulterated love and worship. And you give what you get. I love my girls, wouldn't take a million for them. I get soooo much joy from them. But... I absolutely adore my Baxter.
