I noticed my state (TN) was not one of the 14 states with a law for animals in parked cars.
However, my city's animal control ordinances do state that a person shall not leave a dog or cat unattended in a parked motor vehicle in a manner that endangers the health and city of the cat or dog and that a person may use reasonable force, including, but not limited to, breaking a vehicle's window to remove the animal from the vehicle if the person reasonably believes the animal is in imminent threat of death.
I would contact animal control in this situation, who will probably also be able to best advise you on laws in your area. |
