The number of dogs beaten. For example...a three point major would mean there were 4 dogs in the ring. Yours and 3 others.
Then you can also get totally confused by learning...you can be awarded points of the dogs beaten directly or indirectly. Indirectly meaning if a dog you beat in the ring has beaten more dogs than your own...you receive those points. Points are limited to 5 regardless of how many in the ring or how many another beat.
Points are only earned at winner's. All the bitches compete in their age class, all the dogs compete in theirs....from there one is awarded winner's bitch and winner's dog....between those two...one is awarded best of winner's.
Clear as mud? lol. It has taken me 1 year and half to figure it out.
