The point scale is based on the number of dogs for each breed shown at various shows in each region the previous year. The point scale is updated each year. Sometimes the number of dogs or bitches needed for a major can go up or down. Anyone can show in any region. Often handler will travel around hitting the different show circuits. In areas where fewer yorkies are shown it takes less dogs to make a major and in the more populated areas where therer are lots of entries it takes more to make a major.
