is it possible to champion or finish a dog without traveling a great deal.

How many shows does it typically take to get all their points.

If someone would take the time to explain the whole process, I would appreciate it.

Travel or not to shows? - Most people must travel to get the shows. They have a circuit in which the shows are scheduled. I know that Atlanta shows are every Feb. and August. I usually have to travel about an hour to two or three hours to get the the shows I want to participate in. There of course are more shows, but I do not like to travel past that time, unless it was a special show and then I would be willing to travel 5 hours to it (one way). I know the the NY Specialty is longer, but that one is very special to attend and worth the extra time.

How many (AKC) shows does it take to finsh a dog - it depends on your dog (quality) and the day as well as its competition. I had one finish in three weekends and all majors but one. I then had several finish in two months due to shows not every weekend, so it took longer because of the show schedule. But then I heard a person tell me just this Sat. that she only had one point on her dog after 4 years of showing it (weekend shows once a month). I know of others that never finished theirs after great attemps to get them finshed, including hiring professional handlers. So it really depends on how nice of a dog you have.
