I was taught to put my brush on the table in case the judge would like to use it but not to brush on the table myself. I wait to brush the dog once it's on the floor with my back turned to the judge. I hustle as I hate to keep the judge waiting. With Ace constant brushing just makes him mad anyway.
I had to toss my brush outside of the ring or be excused once when I was showing UKC. I honestly forgot that I had it in my hand. I wasn't going to brush the 6 month old puppy anyway. A lot of UKC judges will let you use bait now; it's posted at the ring entrance.
