I just asked about the thread you used, just because I found the poly held up better to washing.
I ordered some with the collars and found they broke the coat around the neck really bad....have gone back to the others.
I have some of the very old time booties. But, there is some that I have that are sock like, that have a non skid substance on the bottom. I just use surgical paper tape to hold them in place.
