I've brought home 6 week old pups from BYB in my lifetime (not yorkies) & they were always scared, and didn't adjust well for weeks or months. But my LuLu hasn't missed a beat since coming home at 14 weeks. She isn't timid or shy, isn't scared at all, & hasn't cried at night...she has adjusted much better than I could have ever dreamed!

I know some of this could just be due to her personality, but I fully believe the way she was raised & the fact that she was allowed to stay with mom & littermates so long really prepared her for coming home to us. I couldn't be happier with how she's transitioned & how well behaved she is. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful baby girl.

Just wanted to thank YT for helping me with my research.

My grandma held longer her Great Danes ... never sent them home at 8 weeks.. always about 10 . So i believe even for larger breeds it is nicer to have them at the breeders longer than 8 weeks !

Great post !
