My Higgins was quite a poop-hider when he was a puppy! Like you, I would notice the poop, sigh and frown, and head off to get a paper towel to pick it up. When I got back, it was gone! Took several of these episodes before I was able to catch him in the act of hiding it under my bed -- along with about 25 other pieces of petrified poop I found there!!!! And here I thought I had this wonderfully housebroken puppy! Oh they are evil sometimes......but so cute you could just eat 'em up......and they know it!

He has grown out of poop hiding, but poop to him is just something that happens in the course of his busy day......most times he doesn't even STOP to poop, but poops on the run and lets those chips fall where they may.......
Poops outside 99% of the time, but hides one behind my chair once in awhile.

Fortunately, his poop is small, rather hard and dry, doesn't smell much, and easy to deal with.
