We have a coyote problem by me too. They are everywhere and I live in a suburban village with almost 60,000 people. It's not like it's the middle of the country here either. Years ago when we first moved into our house there were hardly any homes near by us. But during the late 90's and 00's entire subdivisions were built. They habitat disappeared but the coyotes stayed. The pups and I hear the coyotes at night calling for their hunt. I love the sound but at the same time I always worry about how they are right in the neighborhoods. I never let my 3 out at dusk or later alone. If it's not the hawk that was hanging out in out tree it could be the coyotes.

Coyotes are very adaptable animals and can live just about anywhere. I totally get what you are saying about not being able to get our dogs back into the house with a coyote nearby. These little ones are totally fearless!
