| Can Anyone Foster? I know this is a place for yorkie rescues but everyday I recieve emails from a rescue here called "Darlington Humane Society", they always are about overcrowding, over worked staff, and a flood a dogs coming in that need homes. The lastest email I received: Foster homes urgently needed, the shelter is making the euthanasia list now.
There are just too many dog coming in.
The summer is the worst time, so many coming in and so few adoptions.
The rescue groups are taking less because their adoption slow down this time of year so it makes the situation worse.
We have a number of dogs and puppies spoken for by rescue that will be leaving in the next week or two and if we can get them into foster homes, new dogs and puppies waiting for rescues or adoption can be spared.
It is truly a dire situation out there.
If you can help by fostering please email or call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx (if you are truly interested in fostering the email is under the shelter site under the "Foster Parent" link and she will happily give her number).
Thanks,

DCHS Foster Home Coordinator I emailed back respond that I will post information onto here and another forum I am apart of to increase awareness and hopefully get some feedback. If any of you know of a rescue or foster that can take some of these dogs in please let me or the shelter know!
Here is the site: Darlington County Humane Society
They will have to stay euthanizing soon and I would hate to see that happen. So many of this shelters dogs can't receive proper health care for dogs with Parvo, Heartworms, Distemper, etc. If you are out of state the shelter has arranged transports before so I'm sure something can be worked out. If there is interest I will happily email her.
Seeing as this is yorkie forum I searched through and found a few of the small dogs (even though big dogs need love too, yorkies don't seem to be in this shelter but of course it never hurts to ask, so i'm sure small dogs will do for now) that are in need of fosters/permanent homes:
1. This is Armani & Her Babies, click here
2. This is Jersey, click here
Jersey is not small but she is a beautiful girl!
3. This is Elizabeth, click here
She is in fact HW positive, but as I said shelter can't afford treatment.
There are many more not listed on the site! They take in many everyday and they just need loving fosters/rescues to take them in! If you can help in anyway please don't hesitate to contact them! |
