Well, I appriciate your concern, but she is doing much better. The vet said she was not really dehydrated, and her abdomen was not and is not tender at all. Since my last post she is up playing and running around with the cat. I can give sub q fluids to her as I have and always keep on hand a bag of iv fluid. (I raise dairy goats so my vet sells this to me along with some other meds.) I am also a nurse so know all about dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. But since she was drinking, that was not my greatest concern. I was concerned that her blood sugar would drop because she was not eatting, and I could not get her to eat. The vet did not recommend hospitalizing my dog, and even if she had, I would not have left her. I can watch her better at home then they can. Especially considering she would have been in a cage all night without anyone there. And I can guarentte she would not have eatten anything if they would have kept her. Now that is not to say there are not situations that a dog needs to be hospitalized, but this was not one of them. So, I will monitor her. If she takes a turn for the worse, I can take her back. I just don't like vets to take advantage of people. I know that it does not cost $40 for each of the 3 test they wanted to run.
