I don't think it's easy to change the softness of water, probably would be best to prepare with another water source. Maybe you could shampoo with the hotel water, then rinse the conditioner out with bottled water, for a final rinse?

Exactly the coat still felt too greasy and slippery also the water had a chemical smell to it. I'm going to try to see at home how much water I'd need to rinse the conditioner out.
