In our area, the sidewalks are our responsibility for maintaining. And, get this, if we don't maintain them (including repairs or snow and ice removal), and someone is using the sidewalk, and they hurt themselves, we can be held responsible. But we cannot tell someone they cannot use it. Not giving you any ideas, but you might want to know the sidewalk laws where you are incase you trip over a small piece of gravel not swept off.
