I know this post is old, but I had the same question and found this post. I was wondering if I was being overcharged or was our vet charging the norm-- so I will share my costs thus far.

Our first vet visit, for wellness check and booster shot, was $250 and included the following:

New client fee $53
Maxx had an ear infection, so the cytology was $29
They automatically, with out telling me, charged me for a small container they gave me to take home to bring back a stool sample--thus incurring pre-charged fee for the test $37
Also they told me about heartguard and how I would need a preventative, but I didn't realize they were giving it to me and automatically charging me until I checked out $53
Animax/Panalog $38 (i have no idea what this was, i think the ear infection formula)
DAPP Booster shot $34
Waste Disposal $3

Our second visit, which I made for just a booster shot, was $86 for the following:
DAPP Booster $34
Waste Disposal $3
Exam $49
