All the medical analogies aside, taking a pet into a No Pets allowed hotel COULD hurt the next guest. Anyone with severe allergies will agree.
Maybe -- but so can taking your dog out on a walk. When I am done with my rescue shift, I am *covered* in pet hair. If me and other volunteers have lunch somewhere, we could sit in a restaurant and trigger someone at the next table over. We could leave pet hair on our seats when we leave.

The bottom line is that the hotels that don't take pets aren't doing it out of deep concern for people with bad allergies. They are doing it for their own convenience, which is their perogative. However, I think it's a little silly to turn something fairly minor into an issue of good and evil. For people who think it's wrong!!!!!!!!! to take a dog into a hotel that doesn't allow them, does it make a difference if the dog stays in its carrier the whole time? If not, why not?

To me, it's breaking the rules, which is wrong, but if we are honest with ourselves, is something most of us do, probably on a regular basis. Do you jaywalk? Did you drink before you were 21? Ever indulge in any recreational drugs? Steal cable? How about office supplies? Did you ever surf the web at work?

How about failing to do things that are legal, but you really SHOULD do? Are you always a good tipper (I am!)?

To me, these sins are about the same level, and it's silly to get so worked up and judgmental over them. Some rules are dumb, and sometimes we're a little selfish. It's a matter of degree.
