Because I really don't know how to groom, but decide to do Ellie anyway and I hate the thought of cutting her, I use my fingers to protect her. I just put my index and middle finger of my left hand on her and pull the hair up through them. If anything gets cut, it will be my fingers. Not the most pleasant, but at least it keeps her happy.
