and our reg. hospital is great for clients, but we do sometimes have to have payment upfront in cash or credit for "new Clients" esp. if they seem a little shady. we've had to board a coule dogs for a family that is having a hard time right now and were evicted. they were made to pay a balance upfront for boarding so we didn't get two dogs dumped on us. we have to be careful when they visit the dogs not to let them outside in case they try to leave without paying as well... |
People do all sorts of things to get out of paying a vet or boarding bill. I still remember when I first moved to Raleigh 15 years ago, there was a big story on the news about all the people who dumped their pets off at the shelter before Christmas. They used the local shelter as a free boarding facility, thinking they could come back in a week and pick their pets up. Sadly, most people didn't realize that their pets could be euthanized in 5 days and many were.
