I heard about Neem, but never tried it. It's a natural botanical insecticide and can be used as a spray and shampoo to control fleas and ticks. I also heard about another natural botanical insecticide called Citronella that works well too and is similar to Neem. I've also hear that steeping thinly sliced lemons in hot water overnight, then rinsing or spraying your dog with the lukewarm liquid works. Those are some options to use directly on your dog. They also have natural flea and tick collars on the market now. Not to sure about how those work. To tackle the outdoor flea problem - were the problem may be starting - try beneficial nematodes or diatomaceous earth from garden centers. One can also spray a mist of oil and wintergreen on their dog or in their home to help.
