Introduce it to him ASAP, even if you're not going anywhere. Tote him around the house in short spurts.
I taught Otis the phrase "get in your bag" when he was really small using treats.
Keep saying the phrase as you put him in, and then give him a treat AFTER he's in. Then take him out, repeat the process. He'll start relating the fact that he'll get a treat everytime he hears the phrase. He'll recognize the phrase and jump in automatically. |
