So our next door neighbor had been going through some pretty hard times, They just told them a couple days ago that they had to leave their property, they lost their homes due to forclosure, I was devastated to hear that hey were thinking of leaving their 3 year old teacup yorkie in a nearby shelter because they had no idea where they were going to go, what makes this story even more sad is the fact that this little 3 year old yorkie has no top teeth and is pregnant! She has no problems eating (she's very chubby) other than the teeth problems she's very healthy, this is her first litter, what scares me is how in the world will she be able to care for these puppies is it even possible? I really dont want to take her to the shelter she is a very sweet dog... what can i do... please advise!!! I'm freaking out~ I know i should have thought about this a little better but I could't let them take her to the pound... Please no mean responses! |
Let me begin by commending you in taking in this little girl and wanting to help. But, your's is not an ideal situation. You are very inexperienced. So, many things to consider. I'm not going to attempt to talk you out of this endevor, I hope to prepare you.
I've skimmed through this thread, so if I speak out of turn, pleas correct/forgive me.
This is a 3 year old undersized yorkie female (3 pounds, I think you said). Is this her first pregnacy? Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. She was bred with an undersized male, still doesn't matter. This little girl has all the cards stacked against her.
You said your vet said she was healthy, yet her teeth are bad. These pups are going to drain a lot of calcium from her. Did your vet, run blood tests on her?
I've asked a couple of questions that I hope you'll answer, before I go on.
