The hereditary or congenital defects part is not true. It can't be true given that there are problems in the breeds that make it up. Genes don't care if they are in a purebred or mixed, it just takes that combination from each parent of the problem genes to exhibit the problem and with enough dogs/puppies out there, it will eventually turn up. Don't be fooled by this type of claim.
