When searching for your mentor.....you want one that has a great line, respected, well known. The person you chose as your mentor is usually going to be your breeder. Someone that you have a trusting relationship with. It's not about asking questions....it's about trust. I know when I hung around the dog shows and began helping exhibitors, my mouth was shut and I listened to everyword these people were saying....I absorbed like a sponge. It took me a few years to build that trust with my mentor.....it didn't happen over night......Your mentor will look into your heart.
There was a great article in one of the YT Magazines on how to find a mentor. I think I may have posted it on here....
I will say I may never be a great breeder in the sense of say a Roberta Rothenbach, Lee Grunewald, Lorraine Hayes, Sharon McCadam, Doreen Hubbard......these women are legends.....But, in everything I do, I try to honor them since they are the ones that worked so hard and contributed to my dog's pedigrees...... |
What a great post, I don't why, but it brought tears to my eyes.
