I am trying to find a great mentor in my area. Unfortunately, I am not having much luck, but I will not give up. In the mean, I am trying to absorb as much information as I possibly can. I would also like to gather a list of questions I should ask potential mentors that would make me feel more comfortable in my choice. If you have any input on that, I would greatly appreciate it.

HONK IF YOU KNOW YOUR YORKIES ARE SPECIAL!!
"HONK, HONK"
You live in the Carolina's/mid-atlantic states. You have some great breeders out there. I'm not sure how many dog shows you attend but, always a great place to start.

When searching for your mentor.....you want one that has a great line, respected, well known. The person you chose as your mentor is usually going to be your breeder. Someone that you have a trusting relationship with. It's not about asking questions....it's about trust. I know when I hung around the dog shows and began helping exhibitors, my mouth was shut and I listened to everyword these people were saying....I absorbed like a sponge. It took me a few years to build that trust with my mentor.....it didn't happen over night......Your mentor will look into your heart.

There was a great article in one of the YT Magazines on how to find a mentor. I think I may have posted it on here....

I will say I may never be a great breeder in the sense of say a Roberta Rothenbach, Lee Grunewald, Lorraine Hayes, Sharon McCadam, Doreen Hubbard......these women are legends.....But, in everything I do, I try to honor them since they are the ones that worked so hard and contributed to my dog's pedigrees......
