Today was a pretty good day. Only 2 accidents! I know she still has a way to go but today I saw some progress. |
I don't blame you, I don't like pads either.

And yay on progress!

I'd have her on a leash and take her to the spot you want her to potty. stand in one spot giving her the area just as far as the leash goes (4-6ft) to potty in. Give your cue word "go potty" and just stand there. do not let her play around, eat stuff in the grass, try to climb up your leg, etc. just stand there and wait. unfortunately since she's from a petstore she's used to going in her cage or on a hard floor so this is a big change for her.
my puppy was from a breeder and i still used this method. sometimes i had to stand there for 30 minutes too until she finally went. If she didn't go in that 30 minutes i carried her back inside and put her directly in the crate, not letting her touch the ground anywhere in the house. Waited 5 minutes (to remind her that she has to pee/poop) and then took her back outside to try again. Do not let her put one foot down in the house until she goes potty outside. Stick it out, she will eventually get it. |
Totally agree. The leash worked with Jackson too. He would get too distracted free.

Yep!
