Hi! New here and needing some advice Hi everyone, my name is Cortney and my babygirls name is Bella. I just signed up yesterday with the group and have been reading through the threads, all of you guys seem very helpful to each other and I think that is great. I actually found the site trying to find out information for my baby Bella. I want to apologize for this being so long. She just turned 3 years old June 1st, and last Saturday was the first time I have ever had anything happen to her. So let me give you a run down of what happened. We were walking Bella around 6 PM (we live in Houston Texas so its been pretty hot outside), She was on her leash and she was walking past the neighbors patio, where they have a few dogs, which Bella is familiar with, there is one dog she doesnt like out of the 3 for some reason, it's the bigger of the 3 dogs and she is a very passive older dog, so it doesnt make sense why she always messes with her. Anyways, she basically just fell out on the ground on her side in front of their patio, the dogs were locked in the patio by a board that was up, so they couldnt reach her they could only see eachother. I ran to her and her eyes were open but she wasnt breathing and her heart was barely breathing and her tongue was out and i saw right away it was already very pale. I freaked out naturally and luckily my girlfriend was there and picked her up and began to breathe for her, we rushed her to the emergency vet up the street and they instantly put her on oxygen. She was given a shot because her heart rate went down to 60 and we almost lost her right then. After applying for the carecredit and getting her tested she came out with a very high lipase, which I have found is common for dogs with pancreatitis. They tested her for this and she came out negative for it, as well as many other tests. The only thing that she came out positive for was a mild case of anemia (due to fleas we cant seem to get rid of), and a UTI, and also the high lipase. The normal level is 200-1800 and hers is 2030. The dr kept asking if she ate something or got into something toxic, but she had been home all day in our room. There was nothing she could have gotten into. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? Or seen their dog just fall out like that? If so do you know what may have happened or could have been the cause? Since yorkies are so fragile I figured maybe there was something you guys knew or could help me with that maybe the dr didnt know because they dont deal with just Yorkies. Any advice would be great. And if you have any questions about her or us or whatever feel free to ask. Once again I am sorry this is so long, but she is my baby and while she is home now and doing better, she had some mild brain damage and she is walking a little funny. it may be permanent it may not, she gets better every day. This has been one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever experienced and I want to prevent this from happening again if possible. Thank you for your time, and any help I can get. And I am excited to be a part of your group!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend |
