I feel anesthesia is very safe is you have the right vet. It's my least concern about a c-section. As the post was worded it said I don't want to put her through anesthesia. Not that they are better.
My comments were that I feel the actual medicine part of it is my least concern about the c-section. Breeding is dangerous. It's not a matter of "putting them through that" in a c-section. Anytime they are bred the possibility to put them through that was made. Of course a free whelp is better.
I've never heard of vets palpating. |
I must have misinterpreted your post, I thought you were advising the OP to have a c-section. And yes, I do consider myself to be very lucky to have never had a singleton pup, although I have had some litters of 2 with some huge pups, and of course, they resulted in c-sections. And yes, I agree that all too often, novice breeders do not realize what a life-threatening situation pregnancy and whelping can be. It is not something that should be considered on a whim.
