I'm not sure how stressful flying an eight week old puppy is for it, but an eight week old Yorkshire Terrier puppy should be with it's mother. The YTCA recommends that a yorkie stay with the mother a minimum of 12 weeks. Laws exist for all breeds; they don't take into account the special needs of the toy breeds. Mother teaches important socialization skills, including inhibition of the biting reflex, and beginning potty training. Pet owners who have purchased their dogs too young have more difficulty with potty training and biting. Read this site for more information on WHY it's important to only support those breeders who follow the 12-week rule.
Why do Maltese puppies need to be 12 weeks old before going to a new home??
