We are East of Council Bluffs. We can sit out in the evening and are rarely bothered by mosquitoes. On the other hand we have friends that live closer to the river and the mosquitoes are horrible, you cannot be outside after dusk at all.
Not saying that it is impossible, but so far have never had a dog with heartworm. But since it is a good preventative for most all worms, I will consider starting mine on them.
