Hi, we taught mitzy to go through a catflap that we have. We started teaching her at about 12 weeks old.....she wouldnt go out at first, we put her in and out of it a few times before we shut her in the house, ran outside and called her.....she eventually got the hang of it........she is 9mths old now, she uses it more if she is left on her own, or she sits at the door with her head sticking out, looking around. It is very handy, cos if i need to go out, even though i always make sure she has peed first, i know if she needs to go, she can get out.
We have 6ft fencing all round our garden, although i do worry sometimes if someone would try to pinch her.
She is never left for long periods anyway, but the worry is always there.
We also have to watch out for foxes (have seen them walking along our fences at night) but she does sleep with us and cant get out unless we take her downstairs. |
