i saw a great holistic vet recently (she is very well known for her vaccine protocol) and she approved of the food i was giving her (blue buffalo) and told me to also give her coconut oil.
interestingly enough, she also told me to use murphy's oil soap (YES, you read it right!!) after her bath. she said to take a little in the tips of my finger and massage it in where i see the problem areas and then gently rinse it off. i haven't tried it yet, but i will for her next bath!! |
so i went to pick up the murphy's oil soap and i read the ingredients. it seems it's MOSTLY vegetable oil, but there were 2 things that bothered me: 1) it contained "fragrance", which is another way of saying "toxic" and 2) there were 2% synthetic ingredients and they wouldn't tell you what they were.
needless to say, i passed. i'm gonna try a teeny bit of the coconut oil and see if that works. if not that, i'll try some other kinds of lighter oils.
