Okay, so the breeder trained to go in the crate, obviously. She said she used puppy pads, but he goes on his blanket. I He sniffe the puppy pad once and now never even looks at it. So I started to take him out and when I bring him in, he hops in the crate and goes on the blanket. I left it without a blanket yesterday, and he did pee outside 2 times. He did not really know what he was doing, but I acted all happy and praised him profusely. I did pot a towel in there before night time. Then he hopped in and happily peed. Dinky completey ignores the pee pad. He sniffed it once and then hasn't looked at it since. He is 4 and a half months old.
It feels unkind to leave him without a blanket at night, but that seems to be the obvious thing to do. And since he likes to pee on bedding, well no way he's sleeping in my bed for now!
He is very timid. He doesn't bark much. He won't walk, but is making some progress.
What to do with a dog who was trained to do it wrong?
