I recently got a Yorkie, house training is going fairly well. He goes outside when we are home. When we are at work we have him gated in a bathroom and he uses pee pads if he has to go.

Does anyone use a dog door and let them go out on their own? This would seem to be a more convient way of letting the dog outside, obviously the area has to be fenced in (Yorkie tight). I have an area that I could put a dog door which would give him access to a very small area of yard to use, but would be large enough to accomadate him.

Has anyone had any luck with this? I know several dog owners that do this but I have not seen anyone talk about this for their Yorkie on these forums. I wanted to see if I was missing something or maybe Yorkie's won't go out a dog door or something else I have not thought of.
