Mabel who is 6 months old has just started to bark a lot more too! I guess she is feeling like a big shot now! I wouldn't say it was excessive tho. Dogs can hear noises literally a block away so it is no telling what she's barking at! I usually let her bark it out...I tell her calmly and quietly "thanks for alerting me, but i think it's all right." If she gets too crazy we get a soda can with loose change in it and shake it. This usually stops her. We call it the scary can! sometimes just saying "I'm getting the scary can!" will calm her down. She's just trying to protect her stuff and you are included in her stuff,so take it as a compliment!! It can be a nuisance at times tho! You don't want to stop it altogether but it needs to be managed. Try the scary can. |
