The bark repeller looks like a remote control and makes a sound they don't like. We point it at them, say "quiet" and they listen. Now I can just put my hands to my lips and say a firm 'quiet' and it usually works. It would be a mad house over there (well MORE of a mad house) without the bark repeller. 1 dog is so much more easily controlled than 3. With just Jackson, he rarely barks unless someone walks in the door, that's it. And when he does bark, it's easy to quiet him down really fast, and not a problem. I don't discourage playful barking, and will even get down on the ground with him and bark and growl with him (weirdo... maybe! LOL :P) He knows what barking is obnoxious and not appreciated or allowed compared to playful and fun barking.
I think Nancy has had success with that too. It looks like a remote, so she can pick up any remote and "threaten" to use it, and you don't even have to have the actual real remote and it still works. LOL
