Call your vet or an ER vet to make sure this is ok for your little guy, but I used to use Orajel on one of mine (the teething gel for babies). Just put a little dab on a q-tip and swab his gum in that area.
When you call be sure to tell them of any health problems or medicines he's on. Good luck!
